Katsucon

Katsucon happened! It was kind of a rush of sewing in the hotel room and getting things done, but we're really happy to have gone, because we FINALLY, after months of planning and work, were able to wear our Fate/Zero costumes! These have been on the planning block for a long, long time, and getting to actually put them on our bodies was kind of surreal.

We placed second in the first round of WCS qualifiers, which means that we were given the option of moving on to the prelims to compete to be US representatives to WCS this year. Thanks only to the generosity of some amazing people, we are going to be able to do that and compete at Anime Matsuri at the end of March. We're really hoping to improve our performance and be competitive before then, but in the meantime, expect to be spammed with Fate/Zero pictures!

We're also doing a materials giveaway on tumblr, go check that out here:

We're giving away a package of the gold bullion wire that Ashe used to embellish the hem of her Saber skirt. It's beautiful, rich looking, shiny stuff, and we're a little bit tempted to just USE IT ON EVERYTHING from here on out. If you'd like some to play with, go like or share the post on tumblr and you're entered in the giveaway. Fair warning - if you follow us over there we will probably follow you back!

Well, Halloween is long gone, but we're finally getting around to putting up pics! We opted for Cinderella and Aurora this year. We also decided to start working on some new skill sets, so we incorporated lights into both of these dresses. They show up a bit in the Cinderella shoot, but we're still working to get good photos of the lighting aspect at some point in the future. We're used to having little girls stare at us when we go out in our fancy princess dresses, but this year our blinking lights seemed to capitvate the little boys as well!

We were also able to get a few cute new fall pics of our Saber and Irisviel costumes, so I'll be putting those up, too. Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Back from a long and exhausting trip through the desert! The first release of our Utena skit is up on acparadise.com. If you don't have an ACP account, you'll be able to see video in a couple more days when the youtube version is released. We'll try and link to it again when that comes out.

We had a few little bumps, but overall we came home pretty happy with how this performance went. It wasn't big or flashy or gimmicky, but it told a story we wanted to tell. We even had people who weren't familiar with the series tell us they enjoyed our skit, which is about the best possible compliment we could receive.

Planning on spending a few days recovering, and then we're going to start buckling down and getting to work on our costumes for Katsu. We don't have anything new costumes for the end of this year, but we are trying to arrange for a couple oh photoshoots in the fall to get pictures of some of the things we've already performed in.

Sorry for the lack of updates; after our busy spring/early summer, we've been hard at work planning the rest of our year. We have some ambitious projects in the future, and managing our time will be tricky!
One of these projects is just kind of a dream skit that we've been wanting to do for years (and years and years), and we've finally decided to get it done and take it Animegacon in Vegas this August. We're calling it our "art film" skit, and I hope once we have video, you'll be able to understand why! We're really excited about it, but between then and now, there's a lot of sewing to get done!

After that, we're still trying to pare down our lists so we don't have to rush the important stuff. But it may be a quiet autumn for us as we hunker down and get some work done!

Before I get distracted and forget to update... Ashe is already on her way to Europe, and I will be headed there in a few days, then we will meet next week at Animecon in the Netherlands to judge their costume contests! We're really excited to see some of our WCS friends again, as well as meet a lot of new people! We can't wait to see what the Netherlands cosplayers bring, and look forward to choosing some cosplayers to send to WCS, ECG, and Eurocosplay!
